How Can I Help?

MISS/SA welcomes support from our community. If you have time, talent or treasure to share with our organization, we’d love to hear from you. MISS Foundation is recognized as a 501(c)3 charitable organization by the IRS and contributions can be tax-deductible.

If you have experienced the death of a child and want to volunteer, we’d be delighted to have your help. We ask that you be at least 18 months past the date of your child’s death before you do any type of direct support work. It is important to give yourself time to be supported and learn the valuable things you will be able to share with others later. There are plenty of other ways to help us in the meantime and we always welcome the assistance.

Tell people about us. Spreading the word is the best thing you can do to help our efforts in the area. We are relatively new to the San Antonio community and there are still lots of people who do not know about us or the services we provide.  Our flyer is available on the Resources and Downloadspage.  Please feel free to give it to your healthcare provider or other professional who might refer individuals to our meetings.

Do you sew or crochet or quilt? Making blankets or baby items for Threads of Love is a great way to use up your scrap fabrics and yarn – and you probably can’t imagine how precious those items are to the families who receive them. If you are interested, contact MISS or Threads of Love directly. More information is available on our Special Service Projects page.

Three times a year our local chapter paints and decorates boxes to be used by local hospitals as“Memory Boxes” (those given to bereaved families to hold the baby’s clothes, photos and other momentoes.) For more details, see our Special Service Projects page.

DONATE

One hundred percent of all funds donated to MISS Foundation are used for direct service activities to support our families. All positions are volunteer and there is no paid staff. Our local chapter has regular postage and copying costs, web-related costs, the support materials we provide to families who contact us and training-related expenses. All support resources are provided to families free of charge. If you would like to support your local MISS Chapter, please contact Jennifer Soos for details.
