We're glad you have found us.

About Us:

The MISS Foundation (Mothers In Sympathy and Support) is an international, non-profit, volunteer-based organization committed to providing emergency and on-going support to families after the death of a child whether by stillbirth, neonatal death, miscarriage, accidental death or child's death at any age.

The MISS Foundation provides support all over the country through local chapter meetings and HOPE Mentors (Helping Other Parents Endure.)  The Foundation is also involved in education and legislative projects which pertain to the needs of the families we serve.  For more information on the national organization, visit the main website at www.missfoundation.org  The national site for MISS Foundation also publishes a newsletter every two months including articles, memorials and more.  It is available at: http://www.missfoundation.org/newsletter/index.html

MISS Foundation in San Antonio:

This site will provide you with information about your local MISS Chapter, founded in September 2006.  There is information here about our monthly meetings, peer support and a community network of resources.

We know that sometimes the hardest thing to do when you are still reeling from such a tragic loss is to reach out for help.  We hope this site will provide you with enough information and reassurance that you can get the support you deserve.  Please read on, sign our guestbook and contact us if you have any questions.

No family should walk the journey of grief alone.

IN THE NEWS:

The San Antonio Chapter of MISS is grateful to the moms who painted memory boxes for delivery to one of our local hospitals, University Hospital.  Thank you Kim, Herryn and Mayda - they loved your boxes!

Nicole Visser with Marisol Leija of University Health System. May 2009

The local chapter of MISS Foundation was featured on Channel 4 WOAI!  Check out the story and video clip here.

The story was also picked up by the American Nurses Association and featured in their national newsletter, SmartBrief.  Read story here.

*Correction to story: Jennifer carried Wheeler for 9 months and he was stillborn at full-term.  The story mistakenly reports 7 months.

ON THE WEB:

A great article at Root&Sprout on how to help families who have experienced the death of a child.  Check it out!
